| The
prestigious, internationally known firm of Caravan Rug Corp. is a family-owned
business that spans several generations and includes the family names
of Refoua and Hakakian. Created some 60 years ago in Iran, the business
moved to Germany 40 years ago, and then just over a quarter century ago,
the families opened a branch here in America under the name of Caravan
Rug Corp.
Today, in addition to its American branch, the German office remains operational,
and the firm still imports from Iran – as well as from India, China
and Turkey. “We also maintain a major manufacturing facility in
Pakistan, from which we also import,” notes Mois Refoua. “Our
line is very high end, and our rugs from Pakistan and India are primarily
antique reproductions. We are very well-known in the industry, and our
reputation is that of producing the very best antique recreations now
available on the market.”
Both the Hakakian and the Refoua families were originally in the business
of antique rugs. Our experience and expertise in this field have helped
us immensely. We have always been able to transfer that knowledge and
expertise in to the recreation of the masterpieces that we make for today’s
market. Because we know how the finest antique carpets were made, we know
how to use this information to make a truly successful reproduction. Consequently,
we have long maintained an outstanding reputation for quality, dignity
and service. Retailers and designers alike trust us to offer the best
in each of our product categories, and to deliver our fine rugs in a timely
fashion.”
Caravan has presented six new collections of the finest rugs during the
past years. Among these was the Oushak collection, which contains recreated
masterpieces of antique Oushak rugs. An extension of the firm’s
popular Bamyan Collection includes recreations of Tabriz Haj Jalili rugs.
Two other collections – the Farhan and Mohothsham – offer
masterful recreations of antique rugs from Persia. “We have also
created a new line of tufted Jaipur rugs, as well as a beautiful collection
of reproduction Sultanabads.”
